COURSES AT STUDIO TECHNIQUE

Courses will resume in the summer session. Please stay subscribed to our social media and mailing list list for updates!

Because courses are taught through live mentoring to maintain quality, courses are offered pending on Samantha Youssef's availability.

Sessions normally run three times per year (starting September/January/May), pending on instructor availability.  Our online figure drawing and 2D animation courses run for ten weeks with two additional weeks of community access for final course submissions.  Workshop masterclasses range from 1 to 3 day intensives depending on the content.  Please note that dates may change due to instructors' schedules and availability.  Dates are announced one month before courses start, and can be found on the Newsreel, Blog, Schedule and Registration pages.  Be sure to stay subscribed to our social media and mailing list to stay informed as classes fill fast!

The Youssef Drawing Syllabus

Samantha's uniquely designed Figure Drawing series, combines her experience from 2D feature animation, academic drawing, and classical ballet.  The program progresses from gesture and movement, to structure and form.
This program not only helps develop aesthetic finishing techniques, but most importantly helps the artist to extrapolate information about the functions and physics of a pose, and the mechanics of the anatomy. It trains the artists' eye to be able to better analyze references from life, and to expand their visual library.
This program has yielded successful results in developing the skills of both the professional and amateur artist.

The Animation Program

The animation series honours the art and craft of classical hand drawn animation. The courses focus on character performance, storytelling, and character body mechanics through a comprehensive program of feature film animation techniques. Artists will learn to master the principles of animation in 2D, as well as strong character performance and storytelling.
These animation courses are designed to continue the legacy of traditional animation, by equipping 2D artists with the skills needed to create feature quality classical animation, and by enriching the process of the 3D animator to bring stronger artistry and understanding to their work.
